Role Summary
Slipstream is hiring a hands-on Integration Developer with deep Workato expertise to build and support the integration layer behind our patient services and healthcare and life sciences (HLS) client solutions. This person designs, develops, tests, and supports Workato recipes and API endpoints that connect Salesforce patient services applications to hub vendors, specialty pharmacies, payer and clearinghouse systems, EHR and EMR platforms, copay and financial assistance vendors, adherence platforms, and data warehouses.
This is a delivery-focused, client-facing individual contributor role. The work involves protected health information (PHI) and regulated data, so disciplined design, documentation, and error handling matter as much as speed. This role has no direct reports. Minimal travel.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy Workato recipes, callable recipes, connections, API endpoints, and data pipelines supporting patient services and commercial life sciences use cases.
- Translate business requirements into integration designs, including interface specifications, field-level mapping documents, sequence and error-handling logic, and reprocessing strategy.
- Build integrations across the patient journey: patient and provider enrollment intake, benefits verification and reverification, prior authorization status, copay and free goods enrollment, prescription triage and transfer, specialty pharmacy dispense and status feeds, nursing and field reimbursement activity, and adherence and refill data.
- Integrate with Salesforce using REST, Bulk, and Composite APIs, Platform Events, Change Data Capture, External Services, and Named Credentials, with a working understanding of the Health Cloud and Life Sciences Cloud patient services data model (Care Program, Care Program Enrollee, Care Program Product, Care Plan, Care Request).
- Work with healthcare and life sciences data standards and formats, including HL7 v2, FHIR, X12 EDI (270/271, 278, 834, 835, 837), NCPDP, delimited and fixed-width flat files over SFTP, and JSON and XML payloads.
- Implement secure connectivity patterns, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mutual TLS, IP allow listing, PGP encryption, secrets management, and the Workato On-Prem Agent (OPA) for systems behind client firewalls.
- Build custom connectors using the Workato Connector SDK where prebuilt connectors do not exist or do not meet client requirements.
- Own recipe lifecycle management: workspace and environment strategy, version control, deployment packages, promotion across dev, test, and production, and rollback procedures.
- Instrument integrations for operational support, including job monitoring, error notification, retry and dead-letter handling, and job history reporting against agreed SLAs.
- Apply PHI-appropriate design practices, including data minimization, masking, encryption in transit and at rest, access control, and audit logging, consistent with HIPAA and client security requirements.
- Produce technical documentation and test evidence to the standard required by regulated clients, including unit test scripts, defect logs, and traceability to requirements, and support validation activities where a system is in scope for GxP or 21 CFR Part 11.
- Participate in client-facing discovery sessions, design workshops, and status meetings, and communicate technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support estimation and presales activities, including sizing integration scope for proposals and statements of work.
- Provide hypercare and production support for deployed integrations, including root cause analysis and permanent remediation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on integration development experience, with a minimum of 3 years building production integrations on Workato.
- Demonstrated healthcare or life sciences integration experience, specifically supporting patient services, hub services, or patient support program (PSP) operations.
- Working knowledge of the patient services ecosystem, including hub vendors, specialty pharmacy and specialty distribution, benefits investigation, prior authorization, copay and patient assistance programs, and adverse event capture obligations.
- Practical understanding of the Salesforce platform sufficient to design integrations against it, including the standard and custom object model, API limits and governor considerations, authentication patterns, and sandbox and deployment mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce Health Cloud or Life Sciences Cloud as an integration endpoint.
- Strong command of API design and integration patterns, including REST and SOAP, synchronous and asynchronous processing, event-driven and pub/sub patterns, batch and bulk processing, idempotency, and pagination.
- Experience with healthcare data standards and file-based interchange (HL7, FHIR, X12, NCPDP, SFTP).
- Direct experience handling PHI and personally identifiable information under HIPAA, including working within client security and privacy review processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across the full integration path, from source system through middleware to target, using logs, job history, and API traces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document designs clearly and present them to client stakeholders.
- Based in the United States and authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Required Certifications
- Workato Automation Pro I and Automation Pro II
- Workato Automation Pro III is strongly preferred and expected to be completed within the first six months if not already held
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (API-led connectivity, DataWeave, MUnit) or Boomi (AtomSphere, Integration Packs).
- MuleSoft Certified Developer (Mule 4) or Boomi Professional Developer certification.
- Salesforce Certified Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Integration Architect certification.
- Salesforce Health Cloud or Life Sciences Cloud accredited professional credential.
- Experience with Workato Agent Studio, genies, and MCP-based tooling, and an interest in applying agentic patterns to patient services operations.
- Experience building custom connectors with the Workato Connector SDK (Ruby).
- Experience integrating Veeva Vault, Veeva Network, or Veeva CRM in a coexistence or migration scenario.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Salesforce Data Cloud, and with Workato data orchestration or ELT pipelines.
- Working knowledge of GxP, computer system validation (CSV or CSA), and 21 CFR Part 11.
- Experience with EHR and EMR integration (Epic, Cerner, athenahealth) and provider data sources.
- Prior experience at a consulting firm or systems integrator, working across multiple concurrent clients.
- Experience with AWS or Azure services commonly paired with iPaaS, including S3, SQS, Lambda, Blob Storage, and Service Bus.
