Job Summary
The Project Manager – Technology & Systems Delivery leads a diverse portfolio of technology implementation and infrastructure projects for life sciences clients, spanning cybersecurity, cloud optimization, applied AI/ML, enterprise systems integration, and laboratory/IT asset management. This is a part-time engagement of up to 16 hours per week, with the majority of work performed remotely and periodic on-site presence in Cambridge, MA (approximately 10% of time) to support workshops, stakeholder meetings, and site-based activities. This role owns project delivery end-to-end — scope, schedule, budget, risk, and stakeholder communication — across concurrent workstreams that vary widely in technical domain but share a common need for disciplined PMO rigor. The ideal candidate is a versatile, technically fluent project manager who can quickly get up to speed on new technology domains, translate technical complexity into clear plans and status for business stakeholders, and keep multiple cross-functional initiatives moving in a regulated, GxP-aware environment on a focused, part-time schedule.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and manage full project lifecycles — charter, scope, schedule, budget, RAID log, and change control — across a rotating portfolio of technology delivery projects.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for project status, risks, and issues, providing clear, consistent reporting to client stakeholders and Slipstream leadership.
- Coordinate cross-functional and cross-vendor project teams, including internal consultants, client IT/security staff, and third-party implementation partners.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, design, and validation workshops; manage action items, decisions, and follow-up questions through resolution.
- Manage project financials, including budget tracking, resource forecasting, and change order documentation.
- Apply PMO best practices consistently across projects while tailoring communication and governance cadence to each project's risk profile and client culture.
AI-Based Email Security Implementation
-
- Coordinate rollout of AI-driven email threat detection and phishing prevention tools, including scoping, pilot testing, phased deployment, and end-user change management.
- Partner with IT security and messaging teams to define success metrics, manage vendor deliverables, and track remediation of identified gaps.
Azure VM Optimization
-
- Manage projects focused on right-sizing, cost optimization, and performance tuning of Azure virtual machine environments.
- Track infrastructure assessment findings, coordinate remediation with cloud engineering resources, and report on cost-savings and performance outcomes.
AI/ML Pilot Program
-
- Lead structured pilots evaluating AI/ML use cases, coordinating data access, model evaluation criteria, and stakeholder feedback loops.
- Manage pilot governance — defined success criteria, timeboxed evaluation windows, and go/no-go decision points — and document outcomes for scale-up decisions.
Enterprise Systems Integration
-
- Manage integration projects connecting enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, Salesforce, LIMS) via APIs, middleware, or point-to-point interfaces.
- Coordinate data mapping, interface testing, and cutover planning across business and technical stakeholders; manage defect triage through go-live.
Lab Instrument & PC Inventory
-
- Lead inventory and lifecycle management projects for laboratory instruments and end-user computing assets, including data collection, tagging, and system-of-record reconciliation.
- Coordinate with Quality/Validation teams where instrument records intersect with GxP and computer systems validation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of project management experience delivering technology implementation, infrastructure, or systems integration projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across varied technical domains (security, cloud, data/AI, integrations, asset management).
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts (Azure preferred), enterprise systems integration approaches, and foundational AI/ML terminology sufficient to manage technical teams and communicate with client stakeholders.
- Strong command of PMO fundamentals: project charters, RAID logs, status reporting, budget/resource tracking, and change control.
- Proficiency with project and work management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira) for planning and tracking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to run structured workshops and translate technical detail for non-technical audiences.
- Experience in life sciences, healthcare, or another regulated industry a strong plus.
- Available to work up to 16 hours per week on a consistent, predictable schedule, with the flexibility to be on-site in Cambridge, MA for approximately 10% of engaged time.
???????Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification.
- Smartsheet Core Product Certification or experience with Smartsheet as a PMO platform.
- Familiarity with GxP quality systems, 21 CFR Part 11, and computer systems validation (CSV) concepts.
- Exposure to cybersecurity, cloud cost management (FinOps), or AI/ML delivery frameworks.
- Experience managing vendor or subcontractor relationships on fixed-scope or T&M engagements.
???????Key Competencies
- Versatility: comfortable moving between security, infrastructure, data/AI, and integration projects without losing delivery rigor.
- Structured communication: distills technical complexity into clear plans, risks, and decisions for varied audiences.
- Stakeholder management: builds trust with client sponsors, technical leads, and internal delivery teams simultaneously.
- Organizational discipline: maintains clean documentation, consistent cadence, and audit-ready project records across a multi-project portfolio.
- Problem-solving: anticipates risk, resolves cross-team blockers, and keeps projects moving under ambiguity.
???????Work Location
This is a part-time role of up to 16 hours per week, performed primarily remotely with required on-site presence in Cambridge, MA approximately 10% of the time to support workshops, cutover activities, and stakeholder meetings. Workload may intensify around go-live milestones, pilot evaluation deadlines, and quarterly reporting cycles; weekly hours are allocated flexibly across active workstreams to accommodate these peaks.
